The County Times presents THRIVE, celebrating senior life after 55! We are pleased to partner with MAC, Inc. (Maintaining Active Citizens) The Area Agency on Aging. Join us for a wealth of information and a bit of fun too on Saturday, November 9, 2019. FREE ADMISSION!
Thrive was developed in 2017 as a collaborative effort by the Salisbury Independent and MAC, Inc. to connect the community with local businesses and services offering seniors the best ways for them to enjoy a long and comfortable life. The success of the event in Salisbury has helped to grow this event into Dorchester and Somerset Counties, allowing more seniors to reach the resources they may need.
At Thrive Somerset, our vendors are sure to cover all your needs offering the information and products to make your life easier including insurance, health and fitness, mobility assistance, senior living, home improvements and more. So, bring your questions and go home with some peace of mind!

In addition to the vendors, there will be a variety of presentations happening throughout the day:
o 10 a.m. - Event opens with Flag Ceremony and Pledge of Allegiance presented by: Crisfield Cub Scout Pack # 463, Scout Master Jimmy Ford
o 11 a.m. – The Window Source of Delmarva - How to select the best, most energy efficient windows for your home
o 11:30 a.m. – Janet Park from MAC, Inc. – Explains the Maryland Relay Services, phone services which enables standard telephone users to communicate with deaf, hard-of-hearing, deaf/blind or speech-disabled people who use a TTY.
o 12 p.m. - Sherree Marshall from MAC, Inc. – Information on the programs and services offered by MAC Inc. designed to preserve dignity, health and independence for an aging population.
o 12:30 p.m. – Somerset County Arts Council - Information on how to volunteer and become a member of this community focused organization.
o 1 p.m. – Michelle Parker from MAC, Inc. – Medicare Part D Open Enrollment
o 1:30 p.m. - Michelle Parker from MAC, Inc. – Aging into Medicare - What to do before you turn 65. Don't wait!
o 2 p.m. – The Window Source of Delmarva - How to select the best, most energy efficient windows for your home
Should you get hungry, not to worry, because we have arranged to have some scrumptious food available for purchase from Billie's Catering. The menu includes hearty salads, assorted sandwiches, several soup options, chili, cake, cookies, brownies and beverages. Yum!
Our vendors always show up and show off with some wonderful giveaway items and fabulous door prizes that will be awarded throughout the day. So, be sure to register and then keep your eyes and ears pealed for announcements about the drawings. You never know what you might win!
With Veteran's Day just a few days after our event, we will focus several of our events during Thrive on our local Military Heroes. Crisfield Cub Scout Pack # 463 with Scout Master Jimmy Ford will open the event with the Flag Ceremony and the Pledge of Allegiance. There will also be an ongoing slide show of a tribute to our local Veterans and a few other special things planned.
